Trade the Lie for the Truth

1 Samuel 1:16

16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. (KJV)

There is a demon spirit that haunts and torments the children of God.  It is the demon of Belial.  He is known as the demon of lies and he seduces men and women into believing lies.  He, along with his ruler, Satan who is known as the “Father of lies”, plant within our mind seeds that try to tell us that God is not faithful and that God will not answer our prayers or see us through.  They are destiny thieves. They cast doubt on the love of God and the power of God to do the impossible in our lives.  It is when we begin to listen to these subtle voices and attach ourselves to their blatant lies that we come out from under the covering of God and move into doubt, fear, depression and eventual hopelessness.

Eve fell prey to Satan’s lies and with an act of disobedience partnered with her husband to commit the first sin and thereby curse the entire human race to a life of struggle, suffering, poverty and disease.

What lie is Belial telling you today?  What lie is Satan whispering into your ear?

·         “You will never be well, this sickness will be with you the rest of your life?”

·         “You can’t break this addiction.  You will always have this drinking problem? Drug problem? Sex problem?”  Etc…

·         “Your marriage can’t be restored! Love is gone and will never return?”

·         “Your children will never come to Christ, they are too far gone.”

·         “You will carry this shame with you forever? Your sin is to big to overcome?”

·         “You will always be broke and never have enough money to meet your needs.”

You fill in the blank.  Today make a conscious decision to stop listening to the lies. Jesus came and broke the curse that was placed over our lives because of the sin of our ancestors, Adam and Eve.  Start listening to a different voice, the voice of Jesus Christ! Jesus is the “Father of truth.”  He said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”  He also said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”  He also said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…”

Who will you follow today?

There is an Enemy

There is an enemy, the prince of this world who has a plan of destruction. The devil, according to John 10:10 has a plan to steal, kill and destroy.  He is a destiny thief. And, if you let him, if I let him, he will destroy our destiny. He has numerous plans to snatch us out from the plans of God.

Esther had the favor of the Lord and was born in a time when God needed her most.  You and I are here at this particular time in history because God needs us most, right now. But Esther also had an enemy, Haman the Agagite (a descendant of the Amalekites), who plotted to destroy her, her family and her entire race.   So too, Satan has the same plans for us.  He does not just want to destroy us personally, but he wants to destroy our entire families, businesses, churches and nations.  Let me take it even further.  He wants to destroy the entire world.

If you have vowed to serve God, the devil will come at you and come at you hard.  Right now you may be wondering why certain things are happening to you, your family, your business, or your church; it is because you have a destiny.  You have a destiny to show Christ even in the midst of pain and struggle.  You have destiny to show the world that there is hope in hopeless situations. We have a destiny to complete what God has called you to do.

In the last part of John 10:10, Jesus said, “…but I have come to give you life and that life in abundance.”  Hang in there, determine not to give up, put your hand in the Master’s hand and he will walk you through this dark valley and lead you to the fulfillment of your destiny.
